Shawano, Wisconsin; Preview: Great Lakes Pro Series
Cole Mathewson had a successful debut in the Stars TAG ICC class at the Snap-On Stars of Karting Series event at Shawano Wisconsin July 13, 2008 finishing on the podium in third place in Final #1 and fifth in Final #2. Kurt Mathewson also had a good run to fifth place in Final #1 but DNF'd in Final #2. Tyler Spitler joined the Evolution Karting Team and improved every session as he got acclimated to the CRG chassis and the roller coaster Shawano track. The Evolution entries ran strong while not having quite the power of the factory teams who own their own motors and have the opportunity to test and tune their motors - while others with leased motors are not allowed to test or make changes to the new spec TMK9ES motors. The team plans to acquire and test its own motors for the class prior to their next event. The next event for the Evolution Team is the Great Lakes Pro Series event this weekend at New Castle Motor Sports Park. The series returns to NCMP for rounds 4-5 of the series, plus a 100 lap Stock Moto endurance race. Kurt Mathewson has two wins in the 125 Masters Shifter class and leads the class in points . Jason Lee will return to the series in Stock Moto after missing two events after winning the first race of the year in Anderson, IN. Cole Mathewson will join Jason Lee in Stock Moto, and Kyle Landon will compete in the TAG category. For the Stock Moto Endurance race, Evolution will field two entries, with Kurt and Cole Mathewson teaming up in the lights category and Jason Lee and Garrick Miller competing in the heavy class.
