Mathewson and Lee are GLPS Series Champs!
Mathewson and Lee Crowned Champions at Final 2008 Great Lakes Pro Series Event
Circleville, OH; Evolution Karting claimed two championships
in the Krahl Construction Great Lakes Pro Series, at the final race of the year at Circleville Raceway. Kurt Mathewson claimed the championship in
the 125 Master Shifter category aboard his Swedetech Maxter powered CRG. Jason Lee took the crown in the Stock Moto class on his Evolution Stock Moto
CRG.
While still feeling the effects of sore ribs injured two weeks prior at Rock Island, Mathewson finished off a rare undefeated season with
his 9th win out of 9 starts with a win on Saturday in the 125 Masters Shifter class. With the series mandated 2 drops and the title clinched,
Mathewson elected to sit out the Sunday event.
Going into this event Jason Lee needed only to stay ahead second place Matt Paderta to clinch
the championship in the Stock Moto class. Having never been to the Circleville track, Lee, a street course expert, quickly figured out the
challenging Circleville track and secured victories both days with convincing drives.
With Kurt Mathewson sitting out, Lee jumped into his
teammate's CRG Chassis and drove it to victory in the 125 Masters Shifter class on Sunday.
Also scoring a victory for the Evolution Team was
Miles Miller in the TAG class on Evolution's Comet Engines powered Leopard CRG. In only his second race this year, Miller led a very tight 3-kart
battle with Geoff Howard and Alex Kish. Unfortunately, Miller was came down with the flu that night and was unable to race on Sunday.
The
team's next race will be the Robo-Pong TAG endurance race at New Castle Motorsports Park, September 28th.
